Quoted - PLATELET ESTIMATE - ADEQUATE
Platelet clumps present on slide; estimate reflects the contribution of clumped platelets.
Clumping prevents accurate automated or manual platelet counting and falsely decreases the report result,
which reflects the MINIMUM platelet number.
This is common in vitro phenomenon, which can be induced by factors such as:
tissue fluid from venipuncture, contact with glass, improper blood/anticoagulant ratio,
and certain inflammatory or immune-mediated conditions.
