Charles Dicken's novel takes place during the French Revolution (1789-1799) and follows the adventures of a clever lawyer that gets mixed up in romance, intrigue and discovers he has a double in love with the same woman. This 1935 version features Ronald Coleman as the lawyer. Others in the cast include Donald Woods, Basil Rathbone, and Edna Mae Oliver.
Six Danes (4 Fawns & 2 Harlequins) appear in one scene at the castle. They are being fed when peasants break into the yard to steal the Danes' meat.
